Franklin 3D 1.0 Released
The Franklin Group, a division of Paradigma Software, announces the release of Franklin 3D 1.0 for Runrev.
Franklin 3D 1.0 is a professional 3d game and simulation engine that integrates with Runrev 4, the cross platform software design system from Mirye Software and Runrev. With Franklin 3D 1.0 for Runrev Pro, you can build cross-platform, hardware accelerated games for Windows (with DirectX or OpenGL) and Mac OS X (with OpenGL). Franklin 3D includes over 400 methods, including support for display control, model loading and callbacks. It includes the engine plus a collection of example projects.
RunRev is a cross-platform, visual development tool that creates applications that run on multiple operating systems and is based on Rev, the English-like programming language inspired by Apple HyperCard.
Features include:
- Multiple Rendering Support. The Franklin 3D engine can utilize OpenGL and DirectX 9 (and Direct X 8) rendering, with two back up, software only renderers
- Hardware Acceleration for 3D and 2D. Leverage native driver support for OpenGL and Direct X hardware based acceleration.
- Character Animation. Morph based character animation and skeletal animation; supports importing animated and rigged character
- Single Window User Experience. Franklin 3D supports features like a 2D sprite engine, an internal graphic user interface with call backs and up to four split screens
- Game Effects. A complete particle effects system gives you programmatic control over your smoke, flames and other effects
- Scene Control. Work with a hierarchical scene graph for programmatic adding of cameras, objects, effects and more
- Cross Platform Deployment. Include externals for development and deployment on both Windows and Mac OS X
Non-commercial, academic versions are also available, starting at $99. The professional version allows for royalty free, unlimited deployment of games and 12 months of updates.
The Franklin Group is working on new ports of Franklin 3D to support other development tools on Windows and Mac OS X.
